What a fun afternoon with Rebecca, Garret, Nicole and Jamie. We took advantage of the extremely low tide and explored the flats. The live shells were a beautiful sight to see. Garret led the way finding many large lightning whelks. His girlfriend enjoyed the shells from a safe distance. Jamie was a great little adventurer and pointed out many live shells and a beautiful starfish. I enjoyed talking with Rebecca about cameras as she took many photos of the kids and wildlife. Rebecca is an outdoor lady (who walked barefoot on the flats I might add) and has a quick eye for photography. We all got a great look of a 4 foot bonnet head shark that was trapped in a tidal pool.  Garret followed it for a while in knee deep water with his mom right behind him taking pictures. It was a great day on the  water with an adventurous family.

I have been a Shelling Guide to Cayo Costa State Park since 1995. Many people know me as the Shelling Guide and Captain with Captiva Cruises over the past 20 years. In 2016 I began solely offering private small boat charters to the islands of Pine Island Sound including Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, Useppa Island, Pine Island and North Captiva. I am a certified Florida Master Naturalist, licensed USCG Captain, avocational photographer, seashell enthusiast and passionate about the history, people and culture of Southwest Florida, especially Cayo Costa. I volunteer as a member of Friends of Cayo Costa State Park and have great respect for the heritage of Cayo Costa. My goal is to provide guests with an overall experience and appreciation for the waters, islands, shells, plants, marine life, wildlife, history and people of this unique area of Southwest Florida.

    Love seeing the underside of the sea star curled up in the sand, the shark fin, and tidal flats! Looks like your guests had a blast. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks Brian! We had a great time and it really made our weekend special. Nicole also had a great time enjoying the wildlife. (Shes not a nature person). Also there still itching the bug bites! Thanks again!

    Cool!!! Love the flats with their big shells! Very cool pics – including the shark fin!
