Captain Brian Celebrates 20 Years on Captiva Island

Captain Brian Celebrates 20 Years on Captiva Island

I walked an old dirt road on Captiva that I used to walk 20 years ago.
I was happy to walk this dirt road once again.

I have been a Shelling Guide to Cayo Costa State Park since 1995. Many people know me as the Shelling Guide and Captain with Captiva Cruises over the past 20 years. In 2016 I began solely offering private small boat charters to the islands of Pine Island Sound including Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, Useppa Island, Pine Island and North Captiva. I am a certified Florida Master Naturalist, licensed USCG Captain, avocational photographer, seashell enthusiast and passionate about the history, people and culture of Southwest Florida, especially Cayo Costa. I volunteer as a member of Friends of Cayo Costa State Park and have great respect for the heritage of Cayo Costa. My goal is to provide guests with an overall experience and appreciation for the waters, islands, shells, plants, marine life, wildlife, history and people of this unique area of Southwest Florida.

20 years!! Come on, did you get there when you were 9? 😀
Remember sneak…I mean driving into SS after the tropical storm a few years back and trudging through the weeds to get to the dirt road that lead out to the flats. That was crazy fun. The best part was seeing my girlie niece get speared in the ponytail by the mangrove branch. Good times and hopefully 20 more years of adventure on your amazing Cayo.

Happy 20 year celebration – here's to the next twenty!!! That dirt road looks like it leads to the beach 🙂 In hindsight, the best decision we made when we first vacationed on Sanibel was to book a Cayo shelling trip with Captiva Cruises . The captains were Keith and Brian. The rest is history 🙂 Looking forward to seeing if you can hoist me into the boat in 20 years when you are 49 (Karen's math!) and I am 80.
