The day started early for veteran sheller Katherine, Tom and Doris. We ran the Gulf to favorite Island number one. The dolphins were fun to see and hear as we took many photographs. I love it when the gulf is calm. Katherine and I walked and talked as we looked for new treasures. She found a great piece of junonia, a beautiful worm shell, three baby ears and two tusks, We also found the largest piece of an angel wing shell that I have ever seen. Katherine enjoyed learning about the ghost crab habitat and the intricacies of the wind effect on the beach dunes. It was a fun trip with Katherine, Tom and Doris.  Keep on shelling!

I have been a Shelling Guide to Cayo Costa State Park since 1995. Many people know me as the Shelling Guide and Captain with Captiva Cruises over the past 20 years. My goal is to provide guests with an overall experience and appreciation for the waters, islands, shells, plants, marine life, wildlife, history and people of this unique area of Southwest Florida.

    Looks like a great day on the water!! I love the footprint photo. I can't imagine what could be better than standing on the beach in the last photo.

    Nancy, The only thing better would be a 4 inch sharks eye in one hand and the tarpon lodge menu in the other. I think Rob would bring it out if we called it in. They all love you at the Tarpon.

    You read my mind, Captain Brian – just left out one thing 🙂 Rob and the crew at the Tarpon are the best. He is a great host and is always willing and able to handle our photo ops. I feel like an old friend when we are there. The food and drinks are pretty tasty, too:-) It is going to be way too long between visits this year.

    Thats a big star fish!! Nice. Always a great find when one finds a nutmeg! Love them.

    We had the best morning. I really enjoyed our talks about the wind and the starfish. Can't wait for next year when we can go out with you again. Happy Shelling. Katherine
